ST. LOUIS PARK, MN – August 12, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Car Donation Foundation d/b/a Vehicles For Veterans marks the milestone alongside longtime partners including Fisher House Foundation, Team Red, White & Blue, Homes For Our Troops and other American veterans charities
Car Donation Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit parent of Vehicles For Veterans, has surpassed $200 million in lifetime vehicle donations — one of the largest milestones reached by any vehicle donation program in the country. Vehicles For Veterans, one of CDF’s three donation programs, has directed proceeds from donated cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles to a national network of American veterans charities since 2010.

“Two hundred million dollars is a big number, but what it really represents is a couple hundred thousand people deciding to hand over their keys instead of calling a scrap yard,” said Loren Dorshow, Executive Director of Car Donation Foundation. “Every one of those vehicles became something a veteran could feel — a service dog, a month of rent during a hard stretch, mental health care that might not have been within reach otherwise. That’s what our donors made possible, one car at a time.”
Vehicles For Veterans has donated nearly $70 million in proceeds from donated vehicles to help fund service dogs, emergency housing assistance, mental health care, adaptive equipment and other programs supporting veterans and their families as they transition to civilian life or recover from service-related injuries.
Rather than donating a single car to a single veteran, Vehicles For Veterans sells each donated vehicle and directs proceeds to a national network of veterans charities, benefiting nationally recognized organizations including Fisher House Foundation, Homes For Our Troops, Team Red, White & Blue, Warrior Bonfire Program, Operation Homefront, Folds of Honor, Gary Sinise Foundation and many others.
Vehicles For Veterans is one of three vehicle donation programs operated by Car Donation Foundation, alongside Wheels For Wishes, which benefits Make-A-Wish and other children’s wish and hospital charities, and Animal Car Donation, which benefits animal rescue organizations. Together the three programs account for the foundation’s $200 million in lifetime donations.
Donations are not limited to cars. Vehicles For Veterans also accepts trucks, motorcycles, boats, yachts and RVs, with free pickup available anywhere in the country.
The program’s beneficiaries also include K9s For Warriors, Hope For The Warriors, Semper Fi & America’s Fund, the Travis Mills Foundation, Oscar Mike Foundation, American Warrior Partnership, Student Veterans of America and the Pat Tillman Foundation, along with the United Service Organizations and Tee It Up for the Troops.
“The entire Operation Homefront family celebrates with Vehicles for Veterans as they reach an incredible milestone of giving,” said Retired Rear Adm. Alan Reyes, President and CEO of Operation Homefront. “We are deeply grateful for a decade of partnership and nearly $4.5 million in generous support, which has enabled Operation Homefront to provide critical housing, financial assistance, and recurring support programs that help military families realize a strong, stable, and secure future.”
Donors can hand over the keys and let Vehicles For Veterans handle the rest — free pickup, paperwork and sale — with proceeds going toward veterans in need. More about how a donated vehicle becomes support for veterans is available at:

Having reached $200 million, Vehicles For Veterans is proud to keep growing its support for veterans nationwide, continuing to turn everyday vehicle donations into long-term help for the men and women who served.
